Should You Workout At Home Or The Gym?

Having your own home gym can have its own triumphs over going to a traditional gym. However, there's just as many benefits for joining a gym. Let's take a look at both and you can choose which best fits your needs.

Reasons to workout at home

  1. Its private - some guys might want to work out from home because they may feel intimidated by the bigger guys at the gym or because they workout more efficiently alone. The large crowds are another big factor to switch to a home gym. Both ways it is much more private and you don't need to worry about people staring at you or any other matter it may be.
  1. Saves time -Washing/buying gym clothes, the hassle of driving back and forth to the gym, and waiting for others to finish with the equipment. These are just some of the things time is contributed to when you have a gym membership. Not mention with a home gym you have the benefits of adjusting your schedule easily and even workout at night.
  1. Saves Money  - Cutting out your gym membership will automatically increase your income surplus and decreases monthly expenses. Of course there's going to be the initial costs of buying the equipment but remember the fact it’s a one-time purchase and will save you money in the long run. You don't need to feel pressured to buy everything at once instead build you home gym over time.
  1. Freedom - You can blast your music, workout with your shirt off or heck even workout naked, who really cares? The fact that you will be working out alone can even mean the ability to do dead lifts, chalks and a few other exercises that your gyms may not allow. Not only that, but you get to be outside and enjoy the fresh air (if you work out outside).

Reasons to workout at the gym

  1. Motivation - When you're at the gym you're basically forced to work out, but at home there's many distractions and procrastination is more likely to occur. Watching everyone workout and their progress will make you want to work harder and keep you focused in the gym. So if you're a lazy person and find it hard to become self motivated I'd suggest sticking to the gym.
  1. Social factor- Going to the gym allows you to connect with your friends and even make new ones. This can be beneficial because you can sometimes get advice from others as this may help you. Not to mention if you're looking for a relationship the is a great opportunity which you can miss out on by working out at home. Lastly, gym workouts provide you with a spotter, now unless you have a family member or friend that can help you at home you'll likely won't have one
  1. More equipment/access to personal trainers - The gym will have more equipment and allow you to work out all your muscles in a variety of ways. It's remote you'll be able to buy all the equipment they have at the gym. Also you can ask for help from the trained professionals there who can guide you in working out effectively.
  1. Saves space - You don't need to worry about where your going to put all your new gym equipment like you would with a home gym. It will save you the space and clutter at home.

In the end it’s a good idea you buy some basic exercise equipment that won't break the bank but at the same time can provide you an alternative backup to going to the gym. So if whenever you don't want or cannot make it to the gym you're not missing out on your workout. You get the best of both worlds!
